BOOK DRAMA ~ AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT ~ COLLEEN WILLIAMS

Colleen "Warrior Empress" Williams was born in the beautiful twin island of Trinidad and Tobago in 1972 and has always had a passion for writing poetry and short stories. This book was written out of the painful experiences she has endured in life. Coming from a rough past, it was hard to trust and forgive again after years of abuse. It is her heartfelt wish to educate individuals of all ages using this book, which is filled with poetry, short stories and dedications. "What won't kill me only makes me stronger.." she says it all the time. However, she knows for a fact if she hadn't gone through the things she has, she would not be where she is today. In this book "Who Feels It Knows It." she speaks to and for women who have been Sexually Abused or have dealt with Domestic Violence. Teaching men and women to take all negative situations and make them as positive as possible, while empowering them to do better and be better. "In the end, we can all learn to forgive and heal, moving forward from Bitter and Broken to Beautiful and Blessed..." Colleen

First off let me congratulate you for having the strength to tell your story.
When did you first start writing?

Thank you,  I started writing at age 9 when the abuse started. I had no one to tell so I wrote little notes and letters to myself. Didn't have computers then so notes after notes over the years I put it into notebooks n never stop. A lot of people don't have any one to talk too.

Where there any parts of the book that was too personal and difficult to share?

Yes the one I wrote titled "Mother to Mother" it was and still is tough because a lot of people I know have a loving relationship with their mother, some lost their mom and will give anything to have her back. Here I am begging to have my mother in my life and she does not love me or want to have anything to do with me. It still hurts. Mother's day, my birthday, and holidays very hard.

What inspired the short stories?

The stories were about my life. I wanted to let people in my world. All they see is a smile and a positive attitude like i have this amazing life. So when they read the book they can see wow I was homeless, I was in a domestic violence relationship and other things I went through they can learn that my past was dark but my future is bright.

What's next for you?

Well I just finished my second book titled "Stop." It focuses only on Domestic violence and sexual abuse.
I wrote a letter to my abuser (why did you rape me?) A letter to my exes thanking them for what they put me through or I would not be where I am today teaching women the signs and how to get help and walk away.
Third book is titled" Looking back is not an option."  It's the lighter version of my life, I came from a dark tunnel and now can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Positive uplifting inspirational poems.

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

This should be an interesting subject you see, because this is my L.I.F.E.
My Testimony. Growing up, while I was young, I was sexually abused,
so my teen years, I always felt like I was being used.
Men came in and out of my life and treated me like ish
and after a while I got sick of it.
Many nights I lay in my bed crying; you see
 Because of my confused L.I.F.E.
and being a single mother in this world that we live in.
Everybody is taking; no one is giving.
Yes, I pray and ask God for guidance day and night. I
know at the end of the road there has to be a brighter light
but I learned that things get worse before they can get better
 I am a strong person; you know: a “go-getter.”
Many times, yes, I get down and out
I just want to scream and shout.
It seems like everything just gets to me,
but I learned that life is what you make it, you see.
